- Birth flower
- A flower traditionally associated with a calendar month, much like a birthstone; a cultural custom with no single official list.
- Deadheading
- Removing spent flowers from a plant, which for many species encourages further blooming.
- Floriography
- The language of flowers — the Victorian-era practice of coding symbolic meanings into blooms and bouquets.
- Synodic month
- One full cycle of moon phases, new moon to new moon, averaging about 29.5 days.
- Waning
- The half of the lunar cycle when the moon's illuminated portion is shrinking, from full moon back toward new.
- Waxing
- The half of the lunar cycle when the moon's illuminated portion is growing, from new moon toward full moon.
